Diespeker was delighted to contribute to the 2023 refurbishment of London Hilton on Park Lane in Mayfair, with eye-catching flooring and elegant table tops.
Park Lane was actually the first Hilton to open in the UK, in 1963. Since then it has become a draw for visitors to the capital, well known for its elegance, comfort – and more than a touch of luxury. But all hotels need a refresh from time to time, and the 60th anniversary seemed an appropriate opportunity for a multi-million-pound refurbishment.
Not only did the hotel’s 453 rooms have a makeover, but also the public spaces and the dining areas, including Park Corner Brasserie. It was for the Brasserie that Diespeker created a simply stunning floor, a Palladiana style design. This used oversized shapes including circles, squares and triangles which were carefully cut in our London factory from Noir St Laurent marble. The shapes were set into position in the floor, before the addition of a poured terrazzo. The perfect terrazzo for the job, our beautiful white TE001 provided a stunning contrast to the black marble. Once the surface had set it was ground and finally polished, revealing a one-of-a-kind design.
Working with JK Interiors, who were responsible for the design management and procurement of the refurbishment, Diespeker also supplied the classy table tops for the brasserie in white quartz, luxuriously finished with brass strip bonded to the edge. The overall ambience of the brasserie has a delightful contemporary feel, combining green tones – including vibrant leather seating – with buckets of natural light reflected by our super-glossy Palladiana floor. For the ground floor Revery Bar, Diespeker worked again with JK Interiors, this time to deliver ten marble table tops in Calacatta Viola to complement the bar’s terracotta and lime wash tones and the deep reds of the lavish seating. These tables have double bullnosed edges, and are softly curved to work perfectly with the curves of the seats. Diespeker also supplied the bases for these tables. In total between the brasserie and bar, Diespeker created around 60 table tops for the project.
Subsequent to this work, we received two further orders, including three exterior tables which required the same edging as the brasserie tables. As brass is not recommended for outdoor use, we changed this to a stainless steel edging, which we then carefully sprayed gold.
The overall refurbishment has rejuvenated the hotel without losing the charm and heritage of its 60-year history. It was even documented by Channel 5 whose four-part documentary gave viewers an unparalleled insight into the work undertaken to achieve such a stunning new look for this much-loved hotel.
