August sees a summer surge!

Despite the summer being something of a damp squib weather-wise, it certainly wasn’t a downer workwise for the Diespeker team.

August is traditionally a quieter month for us as many commercial clients take annual leave with their families, and fewer people start renovation or refurbishment projects in their homes.

So this August was quite a turn up for the books. In fact, the team completed a record-breaking 250+ projects over the month. And they made even more worktops than usual for a range of uses including reception desks, retail counters and residential kitchen and bathroom countertops, as well as a number of dining tables.

Terrazzo worktops continued to be a hugely popular choice, but we also saw an increase in not only marble, but also quartz worktops. As a reminder, while terrazzo is perhaps the material we’re best known for these days, Diespeker has decades of experience working with different stones, and there’s definitely an element of familiarity and workmanship when fashioning these materials.

This impressive throughput of projects was made possible by our recent investment in new machinery for the factory. It’s an investment that really is paying off, both for Diespeker and our clients. The ability to programme our CNC machine then leave it to work its magic overnight has increased our capacity hugely; in fact, it’s proven so successful that we have recently ordered a second CNC.

Put this machining efficiency together with the sheer number of terrazzo and natural stone slabs we have available in stock at our London storage facility, and the result is the ability to fulfil orders in super-quick time. We believe this combination makes us unrivalled as suppliers in the UK and sometimes further afield. This summer found us working on projects in Dublin, Belfast, Scotland – and Barbados!

We’re always pleased to learn that clients are delighted with our service, from the quality of the product to our turnaround times and installation skills:

“We are so pleased with our new kitchen worktop. From my first visit to the showroom, when I was shown how the whole process works I was hooked on the idea of a bespoke worktop. We were able to pick the colours we wanted and the team understood what we were looking for from my not great descriptions. Templating and installation all went very smoothly.”

“We have been really keen on Terrazzo worktops for a while now and decided we would use them in our new kitchen. From the first point of contact with Diespeker, they have been helpful and efficient. We visited their factory where they gave us plenty of useful tips and advice. The templating and fitting went extremely smoothly and we’re delighted with the finished product.”

Moving into the autumn we have a positive number of forward orders with a mix of commercial and residential projects that include creating staircase landings from a huge slab of Cipollino marble, a poured terrazzo with exposed aggregate around a pool, a kitchen terrazzo featuring Jesmonite, and some hefty bathroom ‘troughs’. We’re also starting to look at a sustainable terrazzo alternative, so watch this space.

A huge thanks to the team for working so hard over the summer.
