a flexible terrazzo and has a 40% better sound absorption than standard resin/epoxy terrazzo. It has excellent characteristics in terms of aesthetics and durability.
As part of our drive towards greater sustainability, Diespeker has teamed up with the inspirational Dutch company Duracryl to be the key UK supplier of its seamless terrazzo, Durabella.
Diespeker is incorporating Durabella to our arsenal of materials after undertaking rigorous testing in-house. This is to ensure the product provides the same quality and durability as our traditional resin terrazzo, and to explore new capabilities it has.
Durabella is...
made out of various components based on a special modified binder, with marble and/or other natural stone aggregates.
a biopolymer made from vegetable oil. It contains no chemicals or materials on the Red List (these are materials that are harmful to human health and the environment, such as asbestos, cadmium, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), and lead).
resistant to water, preventing microbial growth and mould.
less prone to cracking and crazing than traditional terrazzo due to flexibility.
epoxy free and doesn’t use any harsh chemicals during the installation process.
designed with a low carbon footprint of 1.6kg/m2
What is it used for?
Durabella is a superb choice for seamless terrazzo flooring, and perfect for high traffic areas in commercial situations. It is installed in exactly the same way as traditional resin terrazzo.
It is also ideal for precast and moulded terrazzo projects, including worktops, vanity units, reception desks, cladding and splashbacks.
Bespoke terrazzo
As well as standard designs, Durabella can be bespoke-made at our factory by Diespeker’s experienced artisan team. The team will create terrazzo to order, working closely with customers to perfect the desired design for interior projects. Designs can include logos, sectioned patterns and intricate designs.
Why are we doing this?
Over recent years, Diespeker has been working hard to improve our sustainable credentials.
Measures include introducing water recycling and dust suppression in the factory, and installing solar panels to access green energy. We also developed Rubblazzo which reuses waste materials and is perfect for external use.
Offering Durabella, a far more sustainable terrazzo with a low carbon footprint, shows the serious commitment we are making as a business to try to minimise our impact on the environment.
What does it mean for customers?
For architects, designers and other clients, the finish and quality of each terrazzo project will be exactly the same as before. There will be no perceptible difference to the service we offer with standard terrazzo.
The big uptick is the superb green credentials that Durabella offers and the knowledge that sustainable aims are being met.
