True Joy finds its perfect terrazzo partner! Dulux colour of the year 2024

Dulux has announced its new Colour of the Year, and this time it’s a really bright yellow. Dulux hopes ‘True Joy’ will inspire people to leap out of their comfort zones.

The idea behind the colour is reflecting what Dulux has pinpointed as behavioural trends for 2025:

“This year, there’s a growing sense across the world that life must be better elsewhere. In times like these, there’s a desire to break free, press reset and welcome in the new. This was the feeling that came out of our Colour Futures Trend Forecast meeting.

Our conversations led us to the theme ‘Just Leap’ and to the shade, True Joy™. This uplifting yellow was created to fill your homes with creative energy, optimism and pride. It works brilliantly on its own as a statement colour or as a striking accent colour to complement other shades.”

Described as giving a real pop of colour that brings excitement to your walls and a smile to your face, we’ve taken a look at which of our terrazzo designs will work well with this strong shade.

On its website, Dulux has teamed True Joy with other strong colours, giving something of a 1950s feel to the interiors. If this is you, you may like to consider:

DULUX TRUE JOY

TE041

This orange toned cement terrazzo could provide an aesthetic clash with the yellow.

TE124

A dramatic two-toned resin terrazzo that’s a real statement, especially when paired with yellow!

TE046

A strong red terrazzo which could juxtapose to perfection with True Joy. Not for the faint-hearted.

Alternatively, a strong multi coloured terrazzo will be less of a clash but still provide a contrast – this will also work well if you decide to change the paint for something more neutral in the future.

DULUX TRUE JOY

TE084

There are four choices in this popular range, which combines cream, green, orange, terracotta and white, available in cement or resin. Pictured you can see our favourite match TE084D.

TE080

A refined design that combines green, grey, terrazzo and yellow flecks that will pick out the True Joy tones.

You could play completely safe and opt for a totally neutral terrazzo.

DULUX TRUE JOY

TE001

A delicate white terrazzo available in cement or resin, which goes with just about anything!

TE007

Diespeker’s ever-popular standard, which fits the design bill every time, no matter what colour you pair it with.

True Joy is definitely a statement colour and will work best in a home that isn’t afraid to declare its personality out loud.

Remember, before you commit to a terrazzo floor or countertop to pair with True Joy, you can order samples of terrazzo to see how the colours work together.
