What edging options are there for my stone worktop?

Ordering a beautiful new stone kitchen worktop from Diespeker, as well as the templating, cutting, grinding and polishing, part of the process is to let us know what edging you would like.

For any stone worktop we include a pencil or bevelled round edge as part of the standard manufacture. For many people, these styles are absolutely fine. They are contemporary and provide a stylish finish for any kitchen.

However, when you are investing in a beautiful new kitchen worktop, or other stone surface such as a table top or vanity unit top, you may wish to consider other options available to you.

Bullnose worktop edging

One of the most popular designs is the Bullnose edge. As the name suggests, this has a rounded edge similar to a bull’s nose. While the softer rounded edge is the main characteristic, there are several options available:

  • Flat Bullnose
  • Demi Bullnose
  • ½ Bullnose
  • Ogee Bullnose
  • Full Bullnose

The most decorative choice is the Ogee Bullnose, which has the characteristics of a mini ski slope! The Full and Flat Bullnose have completely rounded designs, whilst the Demi and ½ curve round to a point.

Sharks Nose worktop edging

Another design named after a member of the animal kingdom! The Sharks Nose has similarities to the nose of a shark, with a blunt curve and a diagonal straight. It’s also available as a reverse design.

Other worktop edging options

Large Pencil Round: similar to the Demi Bullnose with a less pronounced rounded edge

Dupont: another decorative option with a vertical cut leading to a soft downward curve

Cove: reminiscent of a seaside cove, a concave curve

Mitred Apron: This is achieved by cutting slabs at a 45 degree angle between the horizontal and vertical to create an almost seamless join between edges.

Bespoke worktop edging

Diespeker has many decades of experience with bespoke work, and worktop edges are no exception. If you have an idea for something that you’ve seen elsewhere, or even from your own imagination, we will be happy to see what’s feasible.

As one example, we created Rockface for one client who wanted an unfinished, rough edge for a table. You can find out more about this unusual edging click HERE

This is a true statement edging. However, generally we would advise a softer edge to avoid scrapes.
